I fished Kickapoo lake for the first time Saturday afternoon. I got on the water about 2:30 pm and fished until 8:00 pm. I fished alone; the weather was great, albeit a little windy, and the wind finally let up around 7 pm. The water visibility was 18 to 24" there is a lot of grass, but it was never a problem. The bigger fish were caught on the Rattletrap and Chatter bait, and five of them ranged in weight from 2.2 lbs to 2.11 lbs. I caught two on a topwater popper in the 1 to 1.5 lbs range.

I got no bites by the duck blind or along the dam. Everything caught in the shallows of the two horns and the weed edge in front of the crescent-shaped bank.

All eight culls were caught on a 5" Wacky Senko. The action was pretty steady all afternoon, and it didn't really change at dusk as I expected, but I enjoyed myself, and I will return.
