Fished TCU with guest and fishing bud David Fuller (no relation that we know of). The weather looked awful - it was forecast to rain/storm mostly all day and thought seriously about canceling. Our wives thought heading out to fish was a classic 'bad idea'. Glad we went anyway : ) When we got there about 6:30 am it was raining but only a little but the radar looked dicey for the rest of the day. I don't know what happened but about 8:00 the rain stopped and we fished the rest of the day with no rain but great cloud cover and light wind. Man what a great day of fishing. I was thinking with the rain the bass might be hugging the banks looking for snacks from the run off - turned out they were. Almost all our bass were caught less than a half a rod length from the bank and many even closer than that. It was a topwater bomb fest. We caught almost all our bass on deer hair popper flies and it was a blast. It was like fishing for redfish in the marsh. We lost a few but landed most and it was just an awesome day of TCU fishing. Lots of 3 and 4 pound fish with the biggest topping out at about 4.5 lbs. We caught em pretty much all over the lake and around the islands but the hottest spot was the drain in the corner on the launch side of the lake over towards Dub's house. Probably caught 10 bass outta that hole as the bass were stacked up shallow waiting for the food to wash out to them in the drain. Got to say hey to Dub and thank him for building a fishing paradise for us to fish in.
