We arrived about 7:45 am and were throwing at around 8:00. With the sun already up and bluebird skies, I started throwing a spinner bait to see if fish were active. They weren't, so soon we switched to plastics, a Bass Assassin (green back with white belly) and a zoom lizard (green pumpkinseed). We started catching nice, chunky 2 to 3 pound bass up around the dam. All in all about 18 on the day with one cull. The bite was subtle. We were targeting grass lines, working plastics slowly. The fish pulled strong once on - lots of fun! We picked up a couple later on swim baits, a silver rattle trap and a green grub in some open water, but most of the afternoon production was on Carolina Rigged purple zoom french fries around the north side of the island located closest to the dock. We had the privilege of meeting the friendly land owners who drove down to say hello in the early afternoon. They were so welcoming and accommodating. All in all a productive day and such a treat. It probably would have been even more productive if our trolling motor didn't break. We'll be back to this one!
