We fished TCU on Thursday June 18th. We both caught fish by the pier before ever putting the boat in the water. The wind forecast was for wind from the south 15-18mph, let me tell you they under forecast, it was more like 20-25+ all day long. But the good news is the fish didn’t care, they were hitting 2 at a time around the islands. We would fish the windy side catch 2-3 and then work around to the slack water and catch a couple more. Every island held aggressive fish that wanted to rip your rod out of your hands. My partner was throwing a weedless topwater spider to a wind blown bank, we both watched as a set of eyes and an open mouth came up behind and slurped up that spider, ohh man was the fight on. I had to use pliers as it was trying to swallow it, this was big fish of the day @ 5.4. Actually most of the fish were deep hooked. I got a lesson on removing deep hooks. We finally went to using a net as they were so aggressively fighting and occasionally loosing another 3.5 lb fish. We stopped at 1 pm and went to Gunter for lunch. When we got back around 2:30ish the lake was whitecapping and wind just ripping. We decided to stay on the pier and try our luck there. Over the course of the afternoon we caught another dozen bass up to 4 lbs. We used white spinners, chatterbaits, pearl w/metal flakes and cream colored worms. The few times I tried a dark worm, I didn’t get any action. I’d put a white color back on and within a few casts I’d catch a fish. Dub is such a great host he checked on us about 9:30 then came down and sat on the dock with us for about 20 minutes, telling us about the lake and timeline of its development and a few secrets. This is a well designed and maintained PWF location. Thank you Dub and to Steve for getting this property into the club. Be safe and good fishing. Ron
