Active at Medina – Gallant Elms

Fished Gallant Elms the morning of June 11, from 7AM until noon.

Caught a total of 15 (culled 9). Most of the others were in the 14” range.

All were aggressive hits and one I tracked hitting from about 4 ft away.

The fish were looking for active presentations so I was successful using:

Top-water frog (first 30 minutes)

Weighted Senko with spinner “tail”

Chatter bait

Shallow-running rank (along first drop-off from bank) : most productive presentation

Deep-running crank bait (along deeper drop-offs)

As these presentations were working, I only tried these unsuccessfully:

Paddle-tail soft plastic

Conditions:

Air temp (55 to 85 degrees)

Wind: mostly calm

Sky: blue bird

Water temp: 81

Clarity: 5ft

The end opposite the dam was completely covered with aquatic growth and I did not even try to enter
