Pam and I fished Lancaster on Saturday under partly cloudy to sunny skies with winds from the S/SE at 8 to 14 gusting to 22, temps from 69 to 89. Water conditions - temps 78 to 82 with good greenish color with ~24 to 30'' viz. Lake was full to the point of moving up into the shoreline grasses and also covering the weeds on the entire south end of the lake. That part of the lake is still super shallow but you could actually navigate all the way to the upper end. The weeds are very prevalent but with the varying depths at this lake, you can find ways to deal with it. We landed 51 (including 2 crappie) up to 3 lbs and a few "early releases" - actually my best one of course; would have been a 4+. Caught most near the shoreline in the weeds, but a good number were at scattered depths and structures - sorry not much help there. Best baits were really anything that you can navigate the weeds with - swim jig (white/shad), underspin (shad), paddletail (shad), and hi-action creature craw. Very typical of this time of year - pretty gusty which can really beat you down on the north end of this open lake, but plenty of hungry bass. Just another super fun day at a great, local PWF property!
