Fished at Lago Escondido on Saturday and had a great day. We left the house in Austin at 5:00 and were on the water by sunrise. Saw some nice deer as well as turkeys while driving down to the lake. We fished the whole day with a long lunch break. In total we caught 88 bass with just 9 culls! At least 50 were 3+ pounds. The largest of the day was 7lbs and many more in the 4-5.5lb range. We began the day throwing the normal patterns, weightless flukes/senkos and Texas rigged z craws. We were able to catch about 10 fish circling the lake but the wind became so strong we were forced to bank fish the rest of the morning. The club boats anchor would not even hold and the trolling motor had to be set on full speed just to hold our position.
But as many of us know, sometimes the fish really start biting in the wind. My son began throwing a Carolina rigged 10in worm in a purple color off the dock and caught 3 nice fish in four casts. I switched to the Carolina rig as well and began catching them. This is the only bait they would bite for the rest of the day, but it produced so many fish (and lots of big ones) that there was no reason to try anything else. We even tried throwing different colored 10in worms (watermelon and black/blue) on the same rig and had no bites. Luckily we had some extra packs of the purple color in the truck. Think we went through at least 4-5 packs. Almost every fish caught in the morning was around the boat dock due to the wind keeping us off the water. After lunch, the wind slowed down so we were able to hop in the boat again and fish the dam. Caught many more fish along the entire shoreline.
Only one of the club boats was charged when we arrived (think the trolling motor was left on on the other). We had both boats on the charger when we left and motors off so both should be ready for the next group. Both gates would not open while exiting so just be prepared to pull the pin or slip through the other side and use the key pad. Not a big deal.
Another great day on a PWF property and would like to thank the club and owners for offering access to this awesome lake and property!

Nice report. Just to let you and others know there is a manual switch on the outside of each gate opener.
