Sam and I took a day off from remote school and work and headed out to Hat and Star for Tuesday afternoon.  Bass Forecast predicted a Good fishing rating with score of 8.8.  Well, that score is about right, we caught 8 cull bass and 1 crappie in 6+ hours of casting.  Pretty slow for spring. Fish were 10-16”, largest at 2.5 lbs. The weather was nice and sunny, light winds to flat calm.  Tough conditions for catching.

Water is 70-72 deg and I believe the spawn is nearing the end with numerous males on beds, with clouds of fry all along the banks.  We really had a hard time getting bites, trying shallow, deeper, finesse baits, fast, slow, on top, near bank, far from bank.  Just wasn’t happening. Better than a skunk, but only slightly.  We’ll try again once they recover from the spawn.
