Fished Lago Escondido for the first time Thursday and had some good results. Made the drive down from Austin and started fishing at about 2:30 and fished till dark. Ended up landing 30 fish with only 6 culls, most of which were just under the 16in cull. We had the most success on plastics in any green pumpkin/watermelon color. Carolina rigged creature baits worked well in the middle of the lake on drop offs and caught many quality fish, about half of our fish we caught were in the 3.5-5lb range. Weightless senkos and flukes in baby bass and watermelon color worked well around the docks and close to the shore along the dam. The wind was strong all afternoon and the wind blown banks produced the most bites. Only a couple fish were caught in the still water across from the boat dock, not much action in the trees/pads in the far corner either. Water clarity was pretty much perfect. All fish were fat and healthy, you can really see the results of the proper management and larger cull size at this lake. One more note, we had some difficulty with the gate while leaving. The main gate would not open when we drove up to it exiting but my son was able to slip through the gap and enter the code in the key pad on the other side. Did not have to pull the pin.
