Mike and I fished for 5 hours on Sunday afternoon. This is our second time fishing this property. Water temperature was 68-69 degrees, water clarity was about a feet. A big thunderstorm came through at 5 in the morning dumping a bunch of rain, but was in the mid 70's and overcast when we started out. The wind was also calm when we started, but picked up significantly as the afternoon progressed. Believe it was the front edge of the cold front that came through later that night. This is a fishing paradise. We caught 28, nearly all were 3-4 pounds, with the biggest going 4.5. Only 2 were culled. Spinner baits worked best, but Texas rigged craws and jigs also worked. We caught them 5-20 feet off the banks, around the islands and by some of the stick-ups. There is some grass and moss but did not inhibit fishing.
This property is a short drive for us which we appreciate, the property has a paved road in and it is manicured around the lake. We had a couple of side shows as well. One set of Canadian Geese already had a bunch of youngsters and there were several other females were on nests. And one of Dub's neighbors did a fly by, like about 50 feet over the lake, before landing on the lawn and then taking off again. Quite the air show.
And Dub came down and talked with us a couple of times. It's always fun to talk with him. He took a couple of pictures of us in our two small boats and surprised us when we got ready to leave by leaving copies of the pictures in our vehicles. He is an awesome landowner and makes the outing all the more fun. This property is a terrific addition to the club. Thanks again Steve.
