Twas the day before Christmas and a fishing we went,

me and my son hoping to have our rods bent.

He fished conventional, a floppy rod had I 

I was no match for his skill and young keen eye.

We first fished the little lake but no takers were found.

We next fished the big lake hoping better luck would abound.

My son landed four big bass with his conventional gear,

he threw rattle traps and spooks and brought the bass near. 

I threw clousers and a sculpin bunny surprise  

and the mighty fly rod tricked just 2 bass to be my prize.

Last but not least a giant crappie was brought to hand

and a great day of fishing was put in the can.

It was a beautiful day to go fishing with the sun so bright
