Fellow member, Jeff and I hit the water by 7 am. Air temps High 80's and quickly hit 100+, slight breeze and an occasional cloud provided some relief. Water temps in the 90s in the surface layer. The timber held most of the fish, but we also had luck on the edges of the channel. We zero'd in on a wacky rigged pumpkin senko, but also had some luck with various sized watermelon Texas rigged with chartreuse tail. Silver rattle trap was the second most productive. Harvested 19 from dinks to just under the slot. The returned fish were all in the high two pound category, and they were healthy, good fighters who were obviously enjoying the shad introduced earlier this year - they all had fat bellies. Several strikes on Whopper plooper and jerk baits early, but that fell off as the day got hotter. 41 fish total.
