Fished Malouf this morning with a friend of mine who wanted to try fly fishing for bass - he’d been fly fishing one other time about 7 years ago.  We met earlier this week to work on his cast a little and then it was on to the water this morning to give it a go.  My buddy did great - he landed 6 bass - 2 around 1.5 pounds and 4 little “fly rod” bass but not bad at all for his first outing for bass on the fly.  I was so happy that Malouf gave up a few fish for him.  I managed 14 with the biggest close to 4 pounds, a few 2 pounds plus but mostly smaller fish - fly rod bass.  It was a great morning and I was so happy to get to show off a great property so close to Dallas.  My buddy had a blast and I hope will become a PW member down the road.  We caught most of the bass in and around the little cove just to the right of the launch area as you’re facing the lake.  The fish were hanging out around where the weed line sort of drops off.  Caught a few right out in front of the launch to the left in slightly deeper water - same thing at the edge of the weed line.  Great morning.
