Hickory Creek 5 26 19

This was day 3 of our 4 day Memorial weekend trip to Crockett area lakes with my 11 YO son.  We started at 6:30 on the big lake and caught 10 culls by 9 am.  We decided to check out the back pond at 9:30.  Tip for the back pond: use the new 12ft jon, grab 1-2 oars and leave the troller in the truck.  The moss is so heavy near shore it will kill your troller instantly.  Paddles work fine and there are 2-3 acres open in the middle.  Bring some rope and maybe a kayak anchor or a brick.  Cast on the weeds and drag into the deep water.

We only stayed on the small pond 2 hours, Sam caught a 3+, and I landed a couple of 2 lbers, and we had a few more bites and we know the bigger ones are in there.

Went back up to the big lake after midday lunch and caught 10 more 13-14” culls, 20 total, all under 14” in the big lake.  Finished the day pulling out ½ lb bluegills from the dock.  Back to Crockett for fine Mexican at Tata’s.
