I fished Escondido on Thursday, March 14, with Bryan Buchan, Together we caught 21 bass and Bryan culled 6 and I did not cull any.  I only caught 2:

- 1 around 2-3 lbs

- 1 weighing 5.5 lbs and measuring 21"

Bryan caught many more to include:

- 8 < 2 lbs,

- 11 from 3 to 5.7 lbs.  The biggest fish were caught on my dad’s Heddon Chugger Spook (picture below), which is older than I am.  Probably 60+ years old, and still catching fish.

Conditions:

water temp: 65-68

clarity: 3-4 ft

Sky was mostly clear and there were some string wind gusts.

My usual spot was not productive, but the 5.5 lb was caught on a medium running square-billed (mustard, yellow) right of the pier.

I unsuccessfully tried a jig,  popper, frog, senko, spinner, chatter bait, jerk, and various other crank baits.

The water level is good and no evidence yet of any lily pads.
