Fellow member John Shepard and I arrived at 8:15am to the following post front conditions: overcast skies, breeze out of the northeast, air temp in low 40’s, tank full with water temp 57F & water clarity 1.5’.

Due to the weather we opted to fish from the bank, which was okay as the onsite bassbuster needs some attention (one seat appears to be broken). We each fished the entire perimeter of the tank working in opposite directions and each of us had success everywhere but the dam.

Between us we caught 42 LMB and one large white crappie. John had the hot hand throughout the day landing three LMB for every one caught by me and he also landed a 22 5/8” beauty on a sq bill just before noon. Other than the one large prespawn female (see photo) several were landed in the 16 to 17” range. Approximately 50% of the bass caught were below 14” with half of those being dinks. All fish were healthy and released back into the lake.

Best luck throughout the day was achieved on sq bills, trigged craws, and wacky rigged finesse worms on a drop shot set up with 15ft of the bank. Success was also had on trigged brushhogs cast into the submerged creek channel on the south side of the tank. A few bass also hit a black buzzbait as dusk approached.
