Tripp Snuggs
Fry
We had a group of 4 that fished Friday afternoon the 4th and all day today, Saturday March 5th.
It’s a funny thing about this lake, conditions were very tough. The big cold front came through this morning with cold temps and 25 mile per hour winds out of the North. But this is such an amazing fishery we still caught 113 total, with 6 fish between 4 and 6.5 pounds.
We had to work for our bites, the fish were scattered. We tried, but were unable to reliably find the fish in deeper (6-15 foot) water. Probably 80% of our fish were caught in 4 feet of water or less, 1-8 feet out from the bank. Our most successful baits were chatterbaits, creatures, and senkos. We also caught a few on shallow diving crankbaits, lizards, and lipless crankbaits.
We covered a lot of water and managed to grind out a very nice early spawn trip. The bass are just starting to move up. The females we caught didn’t have eggs yet, and no bloody tails. We caught a couple of really nice crappie by accident, which tells us they are right where they should be this time of year, spawning just ahead of the bass.
What an awesome property! Good luck and great fishing to all!
