Fished Brushy Creek with fellow member Bryan Buchan on September 25th. We both launched around 7:15and fished until around 2:30.
I ended with about 12, three of them would have culled, and most between 2-4 lbs. I think Bryan had about 20 with several small fish that would have culled. Most of his catches were between 1-3 ibs.
Here are the details:
Water level was full
Water temp: 78 - 82
Outside temp: 76-93
Clarity: less than 1 ft
Water color: good strain
What worked for me
main colors were black/chart and motor oil senko.
Shallow running crank
Weighted senko
Chatter bait (chart. skirt)
What did not work for me:
top-water (popper, unweighted semko)
Rattle trap
Medium diving crank baits
Spinner baits
Most of my catches were depths of 1-3 ft. I was able to get my kayak into the large flat to the right as you are moving toward the dam. I caught several all the way in the back of that area (black/chaft VERY shallow running crank)
I did not have any success along the dam as I have had in previous trips. I did not get any hits along any of the fence line posts. Most were caught around the grass lines. I did miss probably a 5lb near the set of parallel running fence posts just as you enter the large flat discussed above (let tooooo much drag out).
Bryan had most of his success with senkos and TX rigged worms (motor oil).
