Stormy early morning and sketchy forecast but we caught a break. Beautiful morning!

Water was very clear to 6 ft or so. Lake was almost full. Plenty of vegetation was covering a good portion of the lake but there were plenty of open areas to fish and no big problem trolling around. Fished 7:30 am to about noon.

Took my cousin who is a devoted fly fisherman. He caught about half of our fish on poppers and streamers and I caught the other half on senkos, super flukes and various topwaters. Caught one near the dam way back in the moss dragging a senko over the moss. Fun to catch - not so fun getting it out of the moss. LOL  Caught about 16. Largest was 19".

Most fish were caught within 6 feet of the grass/moss edges, but a few were caught in "open water" too. We caught fish in every area we fished. Two fish caught near the dock were interesting - instead of a silvery or green/silver/black coloration, they were silver near the tail and under belly but were heavily speckled black everywhere else somewhat like a black crappie. Have never seen that coloration on a bass before. All of the fish caught were chunky and scrappy - very healthy!
