Sometimes you have to go fishing even when you know it is only going to be for a little while.

The new moon and the fact we were in dire need of setting the hook on some greeny's took us to Crockett, Texas which is a  2 1/2 hour drive for us from Deer Park, Texas. We arrived at about 6:45 AM and commenced to fishing the big lake up front. We could commit to less than a half day of fishing so we started off throwing white senko's and pumpkin z craws (no weight) and the action started immediately. We did not even launch the boat for a while because this lake is a great walk around lake. Just wanted to confirm there was a bite before we went to the trouble of launching the boat. We quickly discovered that there are still a lot of juvenile bass in this front lake. They were very aggressive and this trip turned into a culling session. 68 culls out of 70 fish. Biggest fish was around 4 pounds. The culls were fat and healthy. No sign of any of them missing out on a meal. If you are a bass food fan and love frying up these tasty critters you have to get over on this front lake.

This lake is down 2 or 3 feet and needing a good hard rain to get the water level up. Saying that, the vegetation growth is way better than it was back in April. Very surprised that once we did launch the boat we were able to maneuver the lake without choking the trolling motors down. All good stuff.

We went to the back lake for a quick look to find the water level way down back there and it was plane to see that the vegetation was too thick to maneuver a boat around so we moved right back to the front lake.

Talked to the land owner a bit and his is always real good to the PWF members and happy to see us. He would love to see more of us coming out and fishing his place so get this location slated on your upcoming fishing reservations.

Be looking for some upcoming post soon…............fixing to hit a couple different lake locations with solid history of BIG Bass and we are hopeful to find them.

Philip,

HC was booked yesterday, so we (John Shepard and I) fished Boatwright for the first time yesterday. You didn't miss much departing HC at noon, as a big storm blew into the region at 2PM and knocked us off of the water.

Based on your concluding paragraph and following your numerous detailed fishing reports, I would recommend that you and your brother consider spending a few days at Cody Ranch in Oklahoma! I think you guys would be in heaven, fishing those tanks.

Cheers from west Houston,

Bob

Robert from the West Side of Houston,

We would love to try Cody Ranch…...............we will make our way up there at some point hopefully.

Heading to Craig's 10-10 Heartland and then Rocky's Dogwood East soon to look for the Elusive Double D. Hoping to have a post next week with the desired results. But, it is fishing and not always catching. So cross your fingers and say a little prayer, need all the help we can get.

Keep Them Lines Tight!
