Fellow member John Shepard and I went to Blackjack yesterday afternoon arriving right at 12:00 noon. We walked to the end of the pier and were amazed at two things, the water clarity and the underwater vegetation, the likes of which we had never seen on this tank. We started fishing the end of the pier and had to adapt quickly to a very light weighted wacky hooked worm popping it through the underwater jungle and you would see a flash followed by a nice tug on your line. We did that for about thirty minutes before we decided to venture out in the property jon boat. The vegetation is very thick and matted from the shoreline out about 20-30 ft (further in the shallower parts of the tank on the edges) from the bank and slowly covering the vegetation underwater as you get further off the bank. We plowed our way from the pier down to the dam were we found deeper water and less submerged vegetation now able to fish with crank baits, chatter baits and the likes but the most productive of all was the dropshot. We set up in the deep water throwing towards the dam in front of the vegetation dragging our baits back to the boat. Biggest fish was caught trolling across the deep end with a chatter bait and trailer. Caught 3 or 4 doing this but most success was on the dropshot with wacky hooked worms.

We fished till about 7:30 pm catching 23 nice healthy bass and 2 huge bluegill. Biggest bass was ~21 inches and avg fish was 16-17 inches.
