I thought the day was going to be sunny and light breezes.  It was sunny but a steady wind from southeast made for fast drifts.  In previous report I noticed or thought that white was the color. It turned out that black was the ticket. Make sure you have 20 lb. or better line to get them out of the grass and timber. The bait for the day was a black bronze-eyed frog.  In hind sight I should have trimmed the legs as we had over a dozen short strikes. We ended up catching 13 and harvested one 12 incher for a raccoon working the shoreline.  We did catch 2 on a red Shad senko.  Their is plenty of water to fish matter of fact the most we have ever seen at timber. We had better results at the mouth of the two arms than trying to go way back into them.  Water clarity was 1 to 2 feet. Part of the lake has a bloom and part was just turbid.  The bass are sitting right on shore as there are plenty of small frogs on the shoreline. Be careful not to disturb the vulture nesting under the propped up boats. Another fun day on the water at privatewaterfishing.

Went to my bird expert and was told that it was a Black Vulture.  They nest on the ground. They hang out with the turkey vultures as the black vulture is not equipped with a great sense of smell as the turkey vulture.  Just another added benefit to being a privatewaterfishing member.  Now you are both an Ichthyologist and a Ornithologist.

Robert,

Very neat, thank you for sharing that with us. Must have been quite a sight to see that nest on the ground!
