Made reservation to fish Six-0 Wed for my first outing this year. First my partner backs out to handle some business. So I went by my self. Got a late start and arrived around 9:30 to the lake. Got out of the truck to see the lake covered with white caps as the 20 mph plus winds were whipping down the lake from the north end. Well do I or don't I give it a try? Well never claimed to be the smartest apple in the barrel, So I dropped the boat in the water put on my life jacket , put the trolling motor on high and headed straight across to the cut on the west side where there there was some cover from the wind. Still a pretty good chop on the water so I grabbed my large spinner bait a began the hunt. To my surprise, I began picking up some takers, not much size, but still some fairly study action. So then I switched to my trusty wacky worm rig and the action continued. My best was a 5lb that hit in the back of a little cut on the wacky worm. The lake is as full as I have seen and very clear. Grass is starting to come to the surface and the old stock tank dam on the north end is about 8ft under the water.I fished to about 6pm. caught 10 over 14in , culled 45 of which 25 were large enough to clean and the others hit the bank. All in all a good day on a very windy lake. Hey guys, please don't forget those life jackets, especially as we get up in age and hit the water by our self.
