I got a chance to fish with PWF member Bill Fetech on Saturday, April 7th at Lago Escondido in Castroville..  The day was windier and colder than forecast but we had a good time despite the weather.  We both had our best luck on chase baits (square bill crankbaits and bladed jigs).  We managed to catch a pretty good number of fish but had to work for them.  This was my first time to fish the property boat and I must say that the boat was up to the task.  the 80 pound thrust motor had no problem with bucking the wind (gusting to over 30mph) and the electric anchor winch was very handy in keeping us stationary for fishing a spot or just retying lures etc.

The fish were as hard fighting as any lake on the club for their size.  One fish I caught I was certain must have been a 6 based on how it was pulling drag turned out to be a 4.  We never caught the big girl but Bill had her on for a while before she eventually spit the lure.  I enjoyed the day and enjoyed meeting and fishing with Bill.

Good times!

Tough weather day to be on a lake.  I agree that both the trolling motor and the anchor system on those boats is outstanding and can sometimes save a day of fishing given high winds.
