Fished Kickapoo Friday afternoon hoping for similar results like I experienced at Lakeside 2 weeks ago. But Mother Nature is a fickle mistress. The wind blew constantly the entire afternoon. Water is stained from all the wave action up to 6-8 feet from the shore. The hydrilla is actively growing and some is already on the surface. Lilly pads are not far behind as we could see them. I could see patches of grass as far out as 30-40 feet from the bank. White spinners were the ticket today if you didn’t want to fight the wind trying to worm fish. All the fish were relating to the hydrilla along the visible edges or buried up near the shore. I did have a big girl break me off when I was fishing down the dam. Fish were very feisty and hit with a vengeance on the spinner. We harvested 9 and returned 11, lost several more in the hydrilla that we never saw. If we had landed everything then we were up over 30 strikes/hooksets for the afternoon. Lake is full and new water is up and over the old shoreline. Can’t wait for the wind to finally slow down. Last 3 trips I’ve been blown all over these lakes. Good luck folks….tight lines
