Let's start with the dock. You could bring a Carnival cruise ship into this dock.  What a great dock, thank you to the owner for a wonderful dock. Second a new 14' wide Jon boat at Beaver. We were the first to use it.  The lake is full and is very interesting. The west end and maybe 30' feet out from north side no vegetation leads me to believe the level has come up recently.  The middle of lake has plenty of weeds and well below the surface.  Started with the normal frogs and flukes  but not many takers as we scoured the shore line.  Water is 60 degrees and not a bed in sight.  At our lunch break we needed to adapt. Since we had only caught 10 fish. Sitting on that huge dock and thinking. We fished a little from the dock and caught the biggest two of the day. Both around 3 pounds.  We went back out and started drifts from the old dock and across the lake. This time we threw 1/8 Beetle spins with a white grub.  This was the answer. Ended the day with over 40 bass.  This is a most interesting lake as there is a structure in the lake that we could not figure out.  So we called it the Zen structure.  Also the spillway has a unique engineering design.  Close to home and lots fun.

The "Zen" structure used to be an old waterski jump ramp.  I fished there as a guest several years ago.  Good little lake and close.  Look forward to going back out there.

Thanks,  now I'm too old to waterski or wake board plus not enough thrust on trolling motor to get a skier up.

Thanks for the information. We are looking for a good lake to take my niece and nephew too. They both enjoying fishing but haven't done any bass fishing. Did the jon boat there have a trolling motor and battery or did you have to bring your own.

Thank you

You will need to bring a trolling motor and a battery.  Also bring some cushions for for Jon boat.  Those seats can get hot on a sunny day.  Buy them each a 1/4 or 1/2 oz. beetle spin with a white grub.  They will catch them non stop in middle of lake between old dock and new dock.  You could fish from dock and will catch some.  I would not let them walk around the bank. Not sure about this location but Wise county is known for Diamondback rattlers.  Lots of time we are not paying attention to our surroundings.  I live in Grapevine and with the scouts we run into copperheads all the time along bear creek. I make the boys aware of snakes and I point them out so they can be snake aware.  Better to be safe than sorry.  $100 for a 30 lb thrust transom mount trolling motor and $85  for a deep cycle battery. Will last you for years.
