Partner and I celebrated St. Patrick's Day (Saturday, March 17) at Beaver
Lake. Fished from 8:30 - 4:00. Partly Cloudy most of the day. Calm to gusty
winds. Water clear to about 18 inches. Caught about 30. 20 were dinks. The
rest were 2 -3.75lbs. Caught most of them in the middle of the lake, only a
few off of the banks. Didn't see any beds. Weeds not yet a major problem.
The majority of the fish were primarily caught on a white spinner bait,
lipless crank, and watermelon fluke. No luck on other cranks, single spin,
senkos, lizards. Did catch a couple on a jig.
As we were loading the boat I somehow managed to dislodge the trailer winch
hook from the boat. We watched as it slid off the trailer and out into the
lake. Fortunately, it is a small lake. The wind eventually blew it to the
opposite side and I walked around and after a short, cold swim, retrieved
it. We lamented that our phones were in the boat as a video of us standing
on the bank looking forlornly at our boat, loaded with all of our fishing
gear, floating in the middle of the lake would have been You Tube worthy.
