Fished Escondido on the morning of February 16th. There was a front due to arrive in the afternoon so I was hoping that would make for a good morning.

Got on the water around 7:15 and tried various top water baits with no success. Tried various soft plastics, spinners, jigs, and chatters baits again with no luck.

Since i always seem to have success with square-billed crank, I tied on a new color, orange and red.   Around 9 I caught a 4-4 bumping off timber. That bite seemed to die to I decided to try the dam where I had tried top water earlier. I caught to on the orange/red crank in about 2 ft of water.   The front seemed to arrive around 11 so I decided to try bumping the crank of sunken timber. I was rewarded with a 4-1, 3-12, and a 3-4.

I seem to have found a sunken timber that when struck by a crank bait triggers a strike.

Ended the morning with 7 and none culled.
