The wind blew hard all day (15-25, as expected), but the trees around Timber Lake help block a little of it.  Air temps started at 65 and warmed into the low 70's late in the day.  It was cloudy most of the day, and that relentless SW wind.  The lake is about 1 foot low, and very clear considering how muddy the road was.  Water temps ranged from 47-52, with the warmer temps along the dam in the afternoon.

We started out working both arms of the lake, but did not get a single bite.  My partner Darryl broke the ice with a 2.5 pounder on a red square bill near the metal building.  We finally found a few in a spot on the main lake point with watermelon and green pumpkin worms.  Things were really, painfully, slow, so we decided to try the dam about 11am.  I put on a suspending jerk bait, while Darryl tried a number of lures.  They loved my suspending jerk bait.  Darryl switched to a floating jerkbait, and still couldn't get a bite.  So I loaned him a suspending one (totally different color scheme) and he immediately started catching them too.  We used my Ultrex to move along the dam (remember the wind) back and forth, and caught most of our fish there, until they quit biting about 4.  The largest bass was 3.63, and all the fish were healthy and fought hard.  Most were in the 2-3 pound range, but we did find 7 little ones to harvest.  Overall we caught 42, and because of 20 lb mono and 50 lb braid, we did not lose any hooked fish.

Beautiful lake and great day, even with the wind.  The road to the lake was wet and muddy, and needed 4wd to climb the hill before the left turn.  Also, they have put in a metal grid and more rocks at the launch site, making it much easier to launch and retrieve your boat.  Thanks to the landowner for that.  Can't wait to go back on a less windy, and warmer, day.

James,

Thank you for taking the time to write this great report. That wind doesn't make it easy, and catching 42 fish in those conditions is challenging. The perforated steel planks are still fairly new, and I have been waiting on somebody to mention them; glad they worked! All in all sounds like a really fun time.
