I fished Escondido from 8AM until around 2PM on Jan 8th.  The sky was sunny and around 9 a strong wind started and lasted the remainder of the day.

Morning temperature was around 48 and rose to about 65 when I left.

Water conditions:

-temperature: upper 40's

- clarity: 2-3 ft

I first tried top-water (ribbit frog and popper) along the dam with no takers.  I then started running the bank trying senkos, paddle tails, frogs with no takers.  Same results running the timbers with cranks and rattle traps.  Around 10:30 I decided to try a very large silver/blue rattle trap between the timbers in about 10ft and hooked a 3.4 lb, but that was the only taker.  As it was getting near noon and I needed a break, I decided to give the dam one more try with medium running crank baits.  I caught a culler and the second 3.4lb.  After lunch I again tried the dam and caught a 2.4 and finally a 3.12.  I did try the area in the timbers where I caught the first 3 lb, but no takers.

Looking forward to a return visit.

The rest room is not working (I think it was due to the cold weather and the pipes may have frozen or they just shut-off the water for now to prevent freezing).
