John S. and I arrived just before noon and quickly launched our two kayaks for a nice afternoon of fishing. Between the two of us we landed approximately 20 or so LMB and had a few come unbuttoned during the course of the session. Our two largest were in the 17 – 18” range with several in the 15-16” range and about a third of the remaining bass were dinks. We pretty much stayed in the main tank (that’s were all of the good arches were showing up on our sonar units), with little to no action (seen or encountered) in the two feeder creeks. The fish were healthy and put up a good fight regardless of their size. They were pretty frisky once they took the hook.

Conditions: bluebird skies, slight breeze from the sw, air temps moving from the high 60’s to the low 70’s, water temperature at the transponder a cool 58F, water clarity ~2-3ft.

What worked (most strikes): junebug & green pumpkin worms, senkos and hula sticks, offered on t-rig, drop shot, ned rig, shakey head jig, and wacky weightless, slowly moved along or near the bottom. Bite varied from obvious to soft/subtle.

We also had a little action (1 or 2 LMB) mid afternoon on a mid to deep diving crank, a paddletail rigged chatterbait, and had one small one taken at dusk on a buzzbait. None of the numerous other lures we threw attracted a bite.

We were fortunate to have the ranch owner (Mr. Stanley) and his son stop by towards the end of our day for a nice chat.

Probably the last report I will be posting for 2017 and rounding out another great year of fishing on the PWF tanks!

Thanks to Steve, Keri and Cole for all of the hard work and tank additions!

Wishing y’all a Merry Christmas and Happy & Healthy 2018!!!!!!!!
