On a whim, decided late yesterday morning to reserve Angel Lake for the afternoon. Fished from about 1:00 pm to 5:15, conditions were scattered clouds in the 70s with lots of wind, 20 mph steady and gusting higher. I fished the lake for the first time a couple months ago and had the same amount of wind, spent the whole day fighting it and got skunked so I decided to bank fish since its a smaller body of water. Glad I did.
Had a good afternoon, landing 16 and losing another 6. Only three harvest fish, only one 4 pounder; all the rest were solid 2 to 3 pound fish with most punching above their weight. All the action started on weightless green Senkos dipped with Spike-it. I finished that bag, so I had to switch over to black Senkos with red flakes and they still kept killing it. Finally gave a blue senko a try which they didn't like nearly as much. Nothing at all on top waters for the last 45 minutes of the trip, neither frogs nor buzz baits. Otherwise had good steady action the whole trip. Nice property and low effort to get there and fish. I recommend it.
