Fished Pecan Springs Ranch yesterday afternoon and it was pretty much a perfect day. Dealt with a little wind which I am sure would have been worse if the water wasn't so protected by trees and hills. Started right around noon and threw a Texas rigged 10" ZOOM worm and had only two takers and never got 'em to the boat. But that was it for about an hour of fishing. Then went to a small shad type crank bait (don't even have an idea what it's called or who made them) that has been in my box since 1983 when a friend gave me a couple of them (see pic). Almost every cast I was boating a fish. Nothing big…bunch of dinks. I stopped counting at 25. Then switched to a weightless wacky rigged cinnamon brown 4" Senko. Same results. Fish were very active. Actually as small as most of the fish were they were extremely feisty…..I mean they fought like smallmouth up north. Those Gary Yama baits are not very hardy…they only last a fish of 3 before they are trashed. When I ran out of them, I tied on a small square bill CB and they loved that too. Maybe 45-50 fish total. Right at 5:00pm I drifted into the shallow south end of the lake and threw a hollow body frog and landed the biggest fish of the day which was probably only 2 - 2.5 lbs. Caught 2 more on top with frog and called it a day around 5:25. The other biggest (on the SBCB) was maybe a 1.5. The rest were smaller 16" or less but caught a slew.
Definitely will go back.

Christopher, the lure in your photo is an old Bomber Speed Shad.
