With the weather changing and water cooling I figured a Tripe J trip might provide a crappie fry. I fished from noon till 2:30 chasing supper and caught just two on a bass pro crappie max trolling. Hit the brush piles, dam and center of the lake with jigs and the crank bait with only the center of the lake providing me those two. OK can't keep this up so after a Dr. Pepper break I picked up a Texas rigged black blue ringed worm chasing the bass and did no good. I changed baits a bunch, (senko, spinner, crank, and so on) about 4:30 I tied on a Bass Pro XPS rattle shad that netted me a solid 3 pounder on the east bank. 50 feet up throwing towards the bank I got slam dunked with a really mean 5 pound fish. Moving up towards the dam I caught 3 more a 2,3 and another even meaner 5. I am now really happy and went over to the west bank trying the same pattern…..NOTHING. Went back up the east bank and it was getting dark and again nothing.  Guess that's fishing but who can complain about a 5 fish 18 lb + bag. I think I won the tournament. Lake is about at normal pool and to my surpriseI found very little vegetation anywhere. Fun Day in Ferris.
