Pruitt brothers made the trip up from Houston to Black Jack Ranch, Giddings Tx. We had experienced a big day on April 16th of this year with 72 (post spawn) healthy bass boated and released on this little jewel of a lake. We were were hoping to catch over 100 bass with a full day this time around. Missed it by a bunch….........42 bass in all total for the day with the biggest weighing in at 3 pounds. Fished from 6:45 AM to 8:15 PM. Senkos in watermelon green, zoom magnum 8" lizards and bone colored yellow magic top water produced most of the catch. Only one fish on a crank bait. Water was down and visibility was less that 2 foot. Wind was tough all day…..............fighting the wind was no fun but can't imagine all day in this heat without the breeze. Fish appear to be on the light side with some forage fish needed to fatten them back up. All in all, a good day with decent numbers, just had to work real hard with only a 15 minute lunch break.

Catching some fish on the ol' Yellow Magic is always a hoot! Glad y'all had a good time at Black Jack Ranch; it's not uncommon for fish to be a little on the lighter side in the dead of the summer. The bass have just finished spawning, and during this time have lost a considerable amount of weight. Now that the summer is in full force, a bass' metabolism rate increases, and they start putting on weight to make it through the winter and pass on their gene all over again. Thank you for the report Mr. Pruitt. Cole PWF
