Fished Escondido today with new member Rod Burrow. We both started fishing around 7AM, took a lunch break at the pavilion, and I fished till 3PM. Rod stayed a little longer.

Conditions.

Water is stained and about 18" lower than the last time I was here.

Water temp. 76-79

Air temp. 70-90

Cloudy most of the day, but the sun did appear around 3. No wind until between 11-2.

Report. No usual top water or any action along the dam. Nothing really in the lilly pads.

No real pattern in the morning. Caught 6 (all keepers) with the largest being 5#.  Others were 2-4#. Most caught on medium diving crank in red /black/chart color.

After lunch again tried the dam and lilly pads with no luck. Remembered last time sexy shad color was productive and tried a medium diving crank around the smaller standing timbers closer to the north bank. That was the ticket. Had five consecutive hits and landed 4. Two around 6# and 21". Ended with a total of 8 on the sexy shad crank for a total of 14.

Did not catch anything under 14".
