Arrived at Lake Escondido on Sunday, weather was beautiful but cold. Got out and immediately began throwing a top water around the docks….hooked a 2-3 lbr immediately with the first cast. Hooked another 6 or so fish around the docks and shoreline along the dam. As the wind began to pick-up, I decided to make an immediate dash for the northeast corner as I know that area holds decent fish and wanted to get some fishing in before the wind turned ugly. Threw the topwater again and hooked into several more 3 lbrs….including a 4-5 lbr which came off the hook.
After the topwater action slowed down, began throwing a TX Rigged zoom worm and hooked a couple more fish. Went back to the dam to begin fishing my usual route on that lake. Around 11 AM, the wind became unbearable and with no anchor I decided to cut my full day short. Ended up with 25-28 fish…culled 5 fish I believe. I was going to give blackjack a try monday but decided to go fish for some smallies at Belton as the weather was forecasted to be calm :) Other than having to cut a full day short, had another fund day at Escondido!
