Fingerling
Matt and I hit Triple J Friday morning. We caught about 20 total, from dink to 20 inches, about half in the sub-14 inch harvest range, and two nice crappie. The bass were primarily on the beds in 2 feet of water, and hammered senkos. All of the fish I cleaned had not spawned, and were feeding on crawfish. In previous trips this year, they were more in the middle of the lake, eating baitfish. We did pick up a few on poppers and crankbaits, but not as active on these as previously. All in all a great day at Triple J, and the fish were all healthy and fought hard. Fun!
One note, if we had been looking for a serene setting, this was NOT it. The heavy truck activity on the Malloy Bridge Road was loud. Dirt work at the nearby landfill added more heavy equipment noise. On top of this were several Apache helicopters flying training runs all over the sky throughout the morning. All this was loud enough at times to make it difficult to talk. But this is still one of my favorite lakes, and almost always produces quality fish, so I got over it.
Tight Lines!
