Wife and I fished Athens - Northeast on Saturday amongst beautiful clear blue skies with variable winds after a significant rain all afternoon Friday. We found the fishing to be very, very tough – managed only 4 between 2 and 3 pounds and 1 crappie. All the bass came on paddle-tail swimbaits, but we threw pretty much everything. This is my first time on Northeast. I am sure that it is a solid lake and we will try again. It is especially clear – I think because the bottom is unusually firm throughout the lake – can barely penetrate with a shallow water anchor pin. We saw what appeared to be several beds – but they were all empty and I suspect all the bass have spawned and they might have been sluggish/idle because of this. Enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The cabin has everything you need.
