Slot Fish
Indian Hollow is truly out in the middle of nowhere. AT&T had no signal, and Verizon only had a signal every now and then. it's great to get away!
The fishing was much better than the weather. It was overcast all day with no rain, but a very strong NE wind made it tough, and just beats you up all day. The air temp stayed around 50, but dropped when the real cold front came through about 5:00pm. Fortunately we were tired and already had the boat on the trailer when that happened, because it came with a 20-25 wind from the north. No problem loading or unloading my boat, even though the bank is pretty steep at the loading area.
The fishing was great; together, my guest and I caught 70+, and harvested 26 little ones. that number could have been a lot more if we could have hooked all the little guys that bit our lures. The action was steady all day, and just about everything we tried worked. We had 3 over 4 pounds, with a 4.28 on a Yellow Magic the big fish of the day. Water temps were 59-61, and the water was very clear (6' visibility) and probably 1-2 feet low. I did not see any fish on beds, but with the overcast and wind, it made it difficult to see. The best areas were the 2 creeks; there are big brush piles in each that are loaded with fish. The water was so clear that many times we saw the fish come and take our baits.
As I said, we caught fish on everything. At one point during the afternoon, I got tired of catching 2-3 pound fish, so i switched to an 8" swimbait with a 10/0 hook that weighs about 3 ounces, hoping to maybe lure a big one out of a brushpile. On my first cast, BAM! I get it in, and it's another 2 pounder. Man, those fish were aggressive.
We both ended up with bloody thumbs, and went back to Emory with intentions of getting out on Lake Fork on Sunday. But we were so tired from driving/wind/cold/catching fish, that we slept in until 10:00am Sunday, and after a bunch of groans and moans, got on Lake Fork about noon. Fished till 4:00; caught 1 fish. 'nuff said.
