I fished by myself in this new beautiful lake on Saturday March 4th from noon till 6PM.  It poured rain steadily from noon till 4PM then the rain  quit and the wind picked up.  Bass were biting aggressively during the rain in 2-5 feet of water.  Water temperature was 62-63 degrees throughout the day air temperature was in the upper 50s with complete cloud cover.  I caught a bunch of bass all on chase baits ranging mostly from 2 to 6 pounds (I caught 2 just over 6 and 2 at 5 1/2).  When the rain stopped and the wind started blowing it took me half an hour to realize that they wanted a much faster retrieve after the rain stopped.

The lake is perfect with good water color and lots of cover to hold bass.  The road in to the lake is completely paved.  I was a little worried about the rain forecast when I wondered if I would be able to get out after fishing.  This is a great lake for PWF, Thank Steve Seth and team for this new gem!

On the way out I stopped by Cafe Castroville.  This is a great upscale cafe,  I would highly recommend you try it while you are in the area.

Note to club:  The electric gate had difficulty closing properly.  it took 5 minutes for the gate to close on the way in and on the way out after waiting for 8 minutes I finally closed it manually.

Bruce. Thanks for the report. Any luck fishing the standing timbers?  Let me know if you ever want to partner.

Bill, About 25% of my fish were on standing timber.  I didn't fish the deeper timbers just the ones in 6 feet or less.  I would love to fish with you soon,  My schedule is pretty hard to predict so I will keep you posted as I know more.

Thanks!

Bruce. Looking forward to it. Much of my success was on the deep timbers.
