Fingerling
My son and I fished the morning of the 18th. Read the reports of bass and crappie, and had caught both there before, so we decided to give it a try. Wind was pretty strong and that valley seems to be a natural wind tunnel. Caught the first one trolling to the south end, started down the dam and caught two at the same time. Had 3 in the first 10 minutes, but only caught 4 in the next 3 hours. Kept 6 and returned one 18 incher. Two of the fish had large bellies. When we cleaned them, one was full of eggs and the other fish, not over 12 in., had 5 large bait fish in her belly. She still thought it would be a good idea to stuff a 5 in. paddle tail swim bait in there. Caught them on the swim bait and sexy shad crankbait. As we left we walked the dam and saw a very nice one between the bank and the weed bed. She seemed to be starting to nest. Got her to attack a swim bait, but she only shook it and headed to deeper water. Son caught more than Dad, so a good morning together.
