My friend, his son and I made our first trip to Henderson Dogwood on Feb 18th, and we fished the East Lake. Overcast and breezy, south wind, mid 60s. Arrived mid morning. I caught a 7# on white chatter bait right off the bat; 45 minutes later my buddy caught an 8# on a chartreuse spinner (bank fishing); 15 minutes later my friend's 12 year old son caught a 9# (according to my cheap scales which are older than he is). Watching him catch that fish and his excitement made the trip worth it; everything else was "gravy". I've been bass fishing most of my life and my 7# tied my personal best; he's not 13 years old and has me beat. His dad's 8# was also a personal best. We caught a few harvest fish that morning, mostly on Senkos. After lunch at a fancy Whataburger in Henderson, went back and wind had died down, almost dead calm, mostly sunny. Tough sledding until about 4:30, when harvest fish started to cooperate again. I also caught a 3# and a 2# in the last hour. Not a big numbers day, but certainly a quality day, with everyone breaking or tying their personal record bass. Beautiful, well kept property, boats in good shape.
