Based on severe, post-frontal conditions (after the first really cold, cold front blew in on Friday), I expected a potential shutout - but was pleasantly surprised to have enough action spread out through the day to make it a very enjoyable day. Fished from about 10:15 AM to 5:00 PM. Bright-blue, clear skies - temps in hi 40's/lo 50's - much more wind speed out of the North than I anticipated - felt like a pretty consistent 14 to 17 MPH until about 3 PM. Wind made the prospect of holding the john boat in the South end of the lake over a grass flat almost impossible.
Was thrilled to actually land a scrappy bass on my first two casts! Wife and I ended the day with about 20 from 0.5 to 3.0 lbs on a variety of lures: lipless crank, swim jig, squarebill, spinnerbait, 4" Power Worm and a Senko. Contrary to typical post-front recommendations the fish wanted a ripping/moving bait - maybe coincidentally that was about all I could work and try to control the boat on the South end.
New PWF supplied 12ft jon boat was definitely lighter and easier to launch and completely leak free!
