First trip to Northeast Lake on a bluebird day! Daughter Holly and I arrived at high noon and started on the dam with plastics. No luck. Headed down the west bank no luck. Hard to believe we did not catch a fish on a senko or worm all day long. So OK we'll try a square bill crankbait, BAM, then double BAM. Ended up with about 15 really solid and hard fighting 2,3, and four pounders on the crankbait. Also caught 2 crappie and a carp on the crank????? Switched to a white spinner bait and tricked 2 more solid fish and just before sundown to a pop R and caught a really solid 4 for the last fish. All in all another great afternoon of fishing.

I've fished Athens more than any other lake and I've never caught a single fish along the dam. I agree, it's baffling.

Goods news on the second pass down the dam using the crankbait we did catch two very nice fish, one was about 2 and another a solid four. With the drain pipe and all the cover there had to be some fish hanging out. Both of the crappie were caught off the dam also. I still am at a loss as to why we were zeroed on plastics.
