Slot Fish
John Shepard, Kevin Rodriguez (my son in law guest) and I arrived at the tank at 12:30PM and started fishing from the bank under a Bluebird sky. Nice breeze provided a decent chop on the water till 5PM. Water clarity was ~2ft. John primarily fished the eastern bank from the dock to the dam and caught 24 healthy bass (1 cull and lost another 5) and 1 bluegill on primarily a shad colored lipless crankbait. John had the largest bass of the day (21") and had most of his success between the dock and the first tree halfway down the bank towards the dam. Kevin and I started on the dock and then worked our way counterclockwise around the entire perimeter of the lake. Kevin was fishing a finess set up (texas rigged 4" senkos and 6"worms "green pumpkin and watermelon colored" with a sliding 1/16th oz sinker) and landed 12 bass (1 cull and lost another 3). Most of his success occurred along the shallow western side of the tank from the drainage pipe on the north down to the dam. His biggest (20") was caught off of a small point on the NW side of the tank and his second largest (19") in the SW corner at the dam. I managed to catch 5 bass (1 cull and another 3 lost) primarily using the same set up as John. My largest (20") came at the end of the day throwing near the bank on the north side of the dock. We tried a number of topwater setups as dusk arrived with no success, by then the wind had died and the lake was calm. A great day was had by all!

P.S. If you are ever driving along 290 I highly recommend that you hit The Truth bbq. Small handcrafted BBQ joint on the west side of Brenham. Excellent Q Thurs - Sunday!
