John and I arrived about 7 am to a beautiful sunrise with no wind, We started on the dam with top waters tight up on the banks and got bit while slowly working our way to the dock. We fished till noon walking the banks mostly throwing moving baits then took a break and ate lunch in Giddings, The heat was starting to wear me down, luckily there was a nice wind that started around 10 am and lasted the rest of the day. We returned from lunch and i started with a swimbait but decided to slow it down with a dropshot and what a difference, John was getting bit with traps but also rigged a dropshot. For some unknown reason he was not having the same success with the dropshot using the same color worm and fishing the same area but was doing just fine, The afternoon bite seemed to come in waves ( no pun intended) tied pretty closely to the on and off cloud cover. We stayed till 6:30 nearly getting stormed on around 5:30 and ended up with ~60 bass mostly in the 16-18 inch range with a handful under the limit and maybe half dozen close to 5 lbs.
