Fishing partner (member Dale Williams) and I again fished from our kayaks at Rough Creek. Last time there was May 16, 2016, which involved fine fishing. Although the weather this time up until the time we left was great, the fish did not turn on during our time on the lake from 9 a.m. until a thunder storm hit at about noon, when we left. The lake is still beautiful, though reduced in size because of grass. There is plenty of good area to fish. Our starting air temperature was around 75 deg., and got warmer and then cooler as rain rolled in. We expected to have success, as we had overcast skies and weather was cooler than normal. Unlike our last time, the fish were not very interested in cooperating, and we only caught and released two 2 1/2, one 3 1/2 pounders and four under 16 in. We threw multiple baits, and no one particular bait was effective. Early topwater only got one fish on a Whopper-Plopper and one that was caught mid-morning deep in the cabbage on a frog. One was caught on a 6 in. bubble-gum worm, and the rest were caught on watermelon-red craws. Nothing on Wacky-Worms or swim-jigs. The skies opened up and dumped on us as we were loading to leave, but it was the culmination of another fun day on an absolutely gorgeous lake. We will be signing up for another trip after trying some other PWF waters.

Noley. Welcome to the club. I also fish from a kayak. Mine is the Old Town Predator XL with the Minn Kota trolling motor. What model do you have?
