Went back to Six-O on Monday. Weather forecast had said 20% chance of rain and mid-80's, turned out to rain all morning with a North wind and low 70's; actually got chilled when the rain was at its hardest, a first for Texas in August. Fished from dawn to 2:30 pm, water temp 85 degf. The cooler weather seemed to stir them up, caught 18 almost all around the margins on senkos, cast a senko at the edge of the weed line and almost all the fish hit on the drop. Largest 2 were 3.5, 4 dinks (which I removed). All looked haelethy, the fish harvesting program is making a definite impact.
Spent half the trip searching for the bigger fish. Graphed a very well defined thermocline at 15' that extended across all the deep water in the lake. Could see fish bunched up at that depth, especially in the deep hole on the north side, a few relating to sunken timber, but most not. Tried hard to get a bite… (Tx rig and carolina rig to see if they would go down, pulled crank baits through them, tried swim baits and spinner baits to see if they would come up, tried a suspended 5 1/2" fluke - let it sink for 30 seconds and then twitch). Know that I put the tackle box right in front of them, but only one taker on TX rig, and not the big one…. Anyone got any thoughts on catching suspended summer fish? A really fun trip.

I had some luck a few July's ago. I would throw a silver or gold 3/4 oz. Rat-L-trap. That time I caught a half dozen or so without moving the boat. I'd let it sink and then reel it in fast. The problem I have with rat-L-trap is a good hook set as the bass seem to shake it out of there lips. I have also found schooling Bass once at six o and the other in Tyler at a lake in the club owned by the Shelmire family. Prettiest lake in the club. That was a lot of fun chasing and throwing crank baits.
