Slot Fish
Mike and I fished Indian Hollow Ranch on Sunday afternoon 8/8. There was a little breeze until about 2:30 and then it died down and it got really hot. But the fishing was hot too. We caught 51 in 5 hours. The biggest was 5 pounds with a lot of fish that went 3 to 3 1/2 pounds. We harvested 3. A few were caught close to the bank. Spinner baits worked best for close to the bank and in the mouths of the two creeks to the right of the boat launch. But most came right out in the middle of the lake. The bass were down 4-6 feet chasing balls of shad. A small crank bait was extremely effective. This is the second time Mike and I have been here and we have caught big numbers and quality fish both times. We use two small boats to fish from and the first time here we launched in the large boat area by the cabin. This second time we used the small boat area further down. While it is not as steep a launch, it is muddy and it was harder for us to get the boats in and out of the water than the big boat launch area. This is a terrific property that we will come back to again this year, just when it is a bit cooler.
